This project consisted in designing the luminaires for the main floor of the Casa Sayrach, a splendid modernist building located in downtown Barcelona (on the corner of Enric Granados and Diagonal). Given the architectural monumentality of the building, it was expected that the lighting would solve the functional aspects while honoring the harmony of the space.
The premise was accomplished through an organic design based on blown glass and steel. Several round-shaped luminaires acted as light sources or as spectacular surfaces. Optic methacrylates were installed in the rounded light sources to emit light across all the concave surfaces. Craters were designed into the surface to achieve unique lighting effects in harmony with the organic traits of the luminaires.
